Abstract

Burnout is a psychological phenomenon that is increasingly occurring in the manufacturing industry due to high work demands, production targets, and a dense work system. This condition has the potential to impact employee productivity and overall organizational performance. This study aims to explore the experiences of burnout experienced by production employees at PT Yamaha Music Products Indonesia (YMPI) Pasuruan and understand how these experiences affect their work productivity. The study used a qualitative approach with an exploratory research type. Informants were selected using a purposive sampling technique involving production employees who have work experience and understand the dynamics of work in the company. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, then analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was tested through source triangulation, technical triangulation, and member checking. The results showed that burnout in production employees was influenced by high production targets, repetitive workloads, time pressure, and a rotating work system (shift). Burnout was experienced in the form of physical and emotional exhaustion, decreased work motivation, reduced concentration, and the emergence of boredom at work. This situation results in decreased productivity, as evidenced by an increased risk of errors, decreased task completion effectiveness, and reduced work quality. However, coworker support, communication with superiors, adequate rest periods, and individual coping strategies are factors that help employees mitigate the impact of burnout. This study illustrates the importance of managing burnout as part of efforts to improve employee well-being while maintaining work productivity in the manufacturing sector.
