Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) on the financial performance of KBMI 3 and KBMI 4 banking companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange, using firm size as a control variable. GCG is proxied by the board of commissioners, independent commissioners, the audit committee, and institutional ownership, while financial performance is proxied by Return on Assets (ROA). This study employs a quantitative approach using secondary data obtained from the annual reports and financial statements of banking companies for the 2021–2025 period, published via the Indonesia Stock Exchange and the companies' official websites. Sample selection was conducted using a purposive sampling technique based on specific criteria to identify companies that met the study's requirements. The data analysis technique used is panel data regression analysis, supported by statistical software. Hypothesis testing was performed through descriptive statistics, classical assumption tests, panel data regression model selection tests, the coefficient of determination (R²) test, the F-test, and the t-test. This study is expected to provide empirical evidence regarding the impact of GCG implementation on the financial performance of banking companies and serve as a reference for management, investors, and regulators in enhancing corporate governance quality to support increased profitability and sustained performance within the Indonesian banking sector. The importance of implementing good governance is further underscored by the banking industry's continued positive profitability among KBMI 3 and KBMI 4 banks, as indicated by OJK banking supervision reports.
