Abstract

Juvenile delinquency, including bullying, promiscuity, and drug abuse, remains a major challenge in fostering students' character development and legal awareness. Limited legal literacy has contributed to students' inadequate understanding of the legal consequences of deviant behavior occurring in schools and the wider community. This Law-Based Community Service (PKM-BH) program aimed to enhance students' legal literacy and legal awareness through participatory legal education as a preventive strategy against juvenile delinquency. The program was conducted from February to June 2026 in ten senior high schools across Pontianak, Kubu Raya, and Landak, West Kalimantan, Indonesia. The methods included field observation, legal counseling, interactive discussions, case-based learning, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), and participatory evaluation. The findings indicated that approximately 90% of participants were able to identify various forms of bullying and understand their legal consequences, while the level of active participation reached 85%. Participants also demonstrated improved understanding of the risks associated with promiscuity and drug abuse, accompanied by stronger preventive attitudes toward risky behavior. These findings suggest that participatory legal education represents an effective educational approach to improving students' legal literacy and strengthening preventive efforts against juvenile delinquency within the school environment.
