Exposure to pathogenic microorganisms such as bacteria and fungi in food, medicines, cosmetics, and the environment has the potential to cause various health problems. These risks are exacerbated by the public's limited knowledge of the characteristics, impacts, and prevention of microbial contamination. This community service program aimed to improve the understanding of students at SMAN 4 Medan regarding the hazards of bacterial and fungal contamination and its preventive measures from an early age. The program was conducted with 36 students through educational sessions consisting of lectures, discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and an evaluation using a post-test instrument. The post-test results showed that 17 students (47.2%) achieved a good level of understanding, 12 students (33.3%) achieved a fair level, and 7 students (19.5%) achieved a poor level. These findings indicate that the educational program effectively improved students' knowledge of the hazards of bacterial and fungal contamination and its mitigation measures. The program is expected to foster greater awareness among young people to consistently adopt clean and healthy living behaviors in their daily lives, thereby minimizing the risk of diseases caused by exposure to pathogenic microorganisms and supporting the achievement of both individual and public health.
